Memory is survival
Before the existence of writing, humankind’s records were but memories.
Engravings in stone walls were filled with hopes for prosperity.
These archived memories ultimately brought on the invention of symbols.

Memories Guide Creative Archiving
Symbols embraced meaning to become alphabets.
Engravings on clay, animal bones, stones, and tortoise shells began to carry significance.
Humankind went further on to record more meaning, more memories.
The space to carry memories eventually expanded and moved on to create history, to create culture.

Archives are the Revolution of Values.
Movable metal types were invented to pursue better values.
Books are a form of creative archiving in itself.
The archiving of knowledge through metal types and books, brought on an expansion of information and a new Revolution of values.
Archives and Libraries gave birth to a space for the shared knowledge of humankind.

Archiving Connects the Past and Future
Humankind manages at last to record reality as is.
Devices to record sound, depict action, and carry reality were finally invented.
These memories are recorded, archived, and accumulated to ultimately give birth to a better world.

Archiving is in Undiscovered Land.
Humankind finally arrives at the invention of computers. And computers transform our records to a binary of 0 and 1.
Bit records of 0 and 1 reduce the space of Archives...
But the knowledge contained within them become Big Data which is changing our lives dramatically.
However... Big Data composed of 0 and 1 can disappear altogether at any single moment.

Where should we go next?

Archiving is the Door to a New Civilization
The digital revolution is an opportunity as well as a crisis for humankind;
Creating a new system of archiving.
Who will lead the way?
Who will hold the key to the new civilization?

It’s you! THE ARCHIVIST
